Bio

Emily started her forestry career in August 2015 when she joined Tall Timber Resources Inc. as a Junior Forester. Beginning forestry was a huge change from her previous background in banking for 5 previous years, but she was eager to learn and loved the mountains. Her first task as a Junior Forester was to follow her then boyfriend (now husband) Fraser, through the challenging terrains of the southern Rocky Mountains carrying supplies (paint, flagging and bottled water) – her love of forestry grew to what is now, 7 years later. Some of the main projects she has been a part of and skills she has gained over the past 7 years are:

  • Hundreds of Permanent Sample Plots (PSP) and thousands of Temporary Sample Plots (TSP), some of which were only accessible by helicopter
  • Remeasurements of the Regenerated Lodgepole Pine program
  • Thousands of regen surveys with a mixture of Establishment and Performance
  • Skills obtained from these projects are map reading, tree and vegetation identification, logistics planning and planning access to many remote plots.

Now as a Senior Technician for TTR she takes pride in being accurate and efficient in the field. Some responsibilities she has are reviewing data, contributing to shift planning and mentoring junior technicians. Forestry deals with all elements and so many different variables. Attention to detail, thinking ahead and problem solving are just some of the more important things she has become well skilled at.

Emily and her husband Fraser bought a home in Swan Hills and had their son Barrett, in July of 2020. Their spare time is spent together as a family, taking in the events of their community and enjoying the outdoors just like they do at work. They have learned so much through the years! As a forestry family they will always be forever grateful for the opportunity that Tall Timber Resources Inc. and the forestry industry has given them, to have been able to travel and learn as they did. They look forward to their future in forestry with TTR and the opportunities it will bring

Beyond Work

Her spare time is spent together as a family, taking in the events of their community and enjoying the outdoors just like she and her husband do at work.
